Unfortunately, over the next few days, consequences of the idiocy began to materialize. Surprise, surprise, the windlass was somewhat dead, but perhaps more sadly, water had leaked through the bulkhead via minor openings and screw holes and soaked some of the fine woodwork in the V Berth. It also found its way into our large storage area under the bed...

The Admiral was none too pleased.

At least the Outbound managed to cope with the additional weight up front - and honestly, it wasn't that noticeable as we bashed into the swells...

Sailed through the Corryvreckan with the fleet in Scotland several years ago. Sailed several times through Hell Gate on the East River in New York, once following the Pride of Baltimore just before she sank. The worst was getting through Hell Gate unscathed a year after 9/11 only to be "engaged" by machine gun toting Coast Guard near the UN building when it was apparently in session. They wanted us to cross the river and we refused. There happened to be a giant barge bearing down on us from upriver in a mighty hurry. They finally agreed to escort us out into the harbour. No shots were fired. Plenty of whiskey consumed at anchor.

I suspect not many can sneak under the bridge! We have kayaked the Corryvreckan at springs and the Grey Dogs on the ebb (when it is much more timid than Saturday's blast). Never yet paddled the Falls of Laura let alone sailed Loch Etive. I hope the weather picks up for you.

Hah! I claim bragging rights! Fresh from sailing in through the Corryvreckan, south of the two islets (to have a look at Gleann nam Muc), today I sailed up the Falls of Lora, with one reef, not to be too showy, with a fresh westerly up the chuff and against the last of the ebb. Who else has sailed through? I'll buy them a virtual drink in this virtual bar, if they'll kindly step forward.

Let's have other tales worthy of bragging rights here.
