Would love to hear suggestions for a route from the UK to Orust in Sweden. We hope to leave Plymouth In mid July 2015 and would like to be there before 10th Sept. Thanks Babs

We came back from Orust once via the Limsfjiord which bisects Denmark. We had a super wind and were able to sail the whole thing including the narrow dredged section. It is quite industrial but some lovely towns and harbours along the way.

It depends to some extent on your UK starting point, but over the years we have tended to go direct from somewhere like Harwich straight to the west coast of Sweden. We came back once via the Kiel Canal which I wouldn 't particularly recommend as a route (in either direction).
Alternatively, it would be a great trip from Plymouth via the west coast of Scotland and then using Kirkwall as your final point of departure. Obviously a good bit longer and you would need plenty of time.
Hope this helps,

I 'm curious! Did you do the planned cruise, which route did you take, and was it a success?
