Hi, If anyone has one of these drogues, is thinking of buying one or is interested to know how they work and how effective they are please get in touch.
I have just used mine on our passage back from South Georgia to Stanley, Falkland Islands and have photos and video of how we set it up, deployed and retrieved it.

We passed tracks 2016 you heading south us north off Mexico, Nimue ?

Hi Simon,
Nothing beats field reports.
I suspect you know, but there is some excellent advice on set-up for the JSD on Attainable Adventures Cruising web site as well as field reports. If memory serves, one report was of multiple deployments from a steel boat on the southern ocean where he shredded an early version of the JSD before they made the improvements in construction. He was very impressed with its functioning and felt it contributed greatly to safety.
Alchemy carries a JSD and I consider it a quite important piece of safety gear for any boat who is passage making beyond the 3-4 days where you can (mostly) depend on weather reports. I would choose it well ahead of a parachute anchor.
