When cruising the Limfjord, in Denmark, one must perforce pass trough Ålborg, which is a delightful stop. It is the fourth largest city in Denmark, and its city center is quite attractive.
It is possible to anchor out at 57° 3.791’ N, 9° 53.45’ E as we did, and from there tender into town, as we did, but the city also offers free dockage at Obels Kanal.
The Obels Kanal entrance is at 57° 3.262’ N, 9° 54.906’ E, in between Vestre Kanalgade and Østre Kanalgade, at the intersection of these two streets and Nybrogade, about 300 meters W of the heart of the city, in a fully redeveloped quarter full of upscale offices and a university campus.
Enter the canal by facing the current and then quick turning into the canal which is perpendicular to the Limfjord. On arrival, you need to call +45 98 12 00 35. No water nor electricity is offered. The walls are lined with wood beams alongside, and suitable mooring rings protrude from the concrete.

Excellent recommendation Odette - thanks!
Here's Toodle-oo! in place - we'll be here a couple of nights...
Unfortunately, it turns out they enforce a 24 hour maximum stay - we get kicked out today. Bit silly really since we're the only boat here - but I guess it'd get abused if there were no limit...
