ROLLS BATTERIES
When we bought "Freya" she was already equipped with very expensive Rolls batteries. After 8 years, we decided to replace these batteries with a new set of Rolls batteries - purchase price approximately £1,000. These batteries failed within 5 months of their installation, and to be fair to Rolls batteries, they were replaced under warranty.

However, the second set of Rolls batteries failed within 5 months of their installation and Rolls refused to honour the warranty, claiming that our electrical system in the boat must be at fault.

We replaced the rolls batteries with Trojan batteries. We now have been using these Trojan batteries for 12 months, with no problems at all. Draw your own conclusions!!

We later found that the Rolls batteries had been in what is termed "dry storage" and were already in excess of seven years old (date stamped) when we received them.

BE VERY WARY ABOUT PURCHASING ROLLS BATTERIES!

Lead acid. One of the problems we have as liveaboard cruisers is ordering equipment from overseas - eg USA or UK. While easy to do, it can create all sorts of problems when things don 't work.
