During this transition period, the EU and the UK will&lt;br/&gt;engage in negotiations to determine their future relationship. The status quo will continue&lt;br/&gt;for the duration of the transition period, which, unless extended, is due to end on the 31st&lt;br/&gt;December 2020.&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;There are no implications for the regulation of the maritime transport sector during the&lt;br/&gt;transition period and national and EU legislation will continue to apply to the UK in the same&lt;br/&gt;way as it does currently. &lt;a href="http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2019/act/8/enacted/en/html" id="if_insertedNode_1580753406055"&gt;Part 15 of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from theEuropean Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2019&lt;/a&gt; commenced at 11pm on 31st&lt;br/&gt;January 2020.
