Trinidad – Chaguramas
I joined a Swan 57 here who had had to have a new hull made and fitted in the secure Peak Marina Boatyard. Thanks to the helpful staff and full array of services we were able to turn around the boat in good time for our incoming guests. Zanzibar restaurant (with good wifi) inside the marina is acceptable but very slow service. Sails in the next door marina is preferable and an 11am visit to the roti shop is a can’t miss if in the area. Customs is a slow and trying affair though.

Trinidad – Scotland Bay
An idyllic spot away from the relative bustle of Chaguramas and just round the corner. If you want to anchor like the locals – take a line from the stern and tie it round a tree (requires a good swimmer). I should mention though that the party boat will come and join you if you’re around on a Saturday night, including 30 second snippets of 90s pop songs for a good few hours….. or maybe that’s the sort of thing you like.
