We are Lori and Paul on s/v Imagine Squared and we will be headed to the Azores at the end of May or beginning of June this year (date dependent upon weather). We are looking to short stop in Lajes das Flores and do some hiking and then on to Horta for a month or so. After that planning on heading to Cabo de Santa Maria, Portugal, then on to Sevilla, Spain. If any one else is planning on heading to the Azores at that time please contact us.

Hi Lori and Paul,
We got lots of good advice for the Atlantic crossing in 2006, but the advice that sticks in our memory was to not treat the Azores’ archipelago as a pit stop with fuel in the middle of the Atlantic. Once you see the beauty of the islands and experience life there, you will know what I mean.
We spent 2+ months cruising there cruising 6 of the islands. Each was a bit different, but each was well worth the visit and the time. The hiking on Flores was wonderful.
After 2 months, we even considered over-wintering there, but eventually pushed on to Portugal.
Enjoy, Dick Stevenson, s/v Alchemy
