Having read detailed reports of the loss of life this year in three incidents (the woman who fell overboard in the NARC, the sailors lost in two races), in each case the sailors were on deck without tethers. The first rule of sailing is to stay on the boat. We have a corrolary rule on Aleria. You do not leave the companionway before being clipped in while at sea. Do others do this? What other precautions should we all be taking?
