Does anybody have any recommendations for liferaft hire? I know that a few companies offer this service but it is not always clear exactly what models are being offered. We are planning a 12m trip taking in the ARC and the Pacific. Any suggestions, or warnings of those to avoid, much appreciated. Many thanks.

For that length of time, you might consider buying and then selling your raft when you return. I am not sure I trust re-packing that I have not observed, in fact, I am pretty sure I do not trust re-packing that I have not observed. The other consideration is that, once out there, many do not return---at least not as expected---and that is a good thing. If you own, your options are open.

Thanks Dick, much appreciated. It's very useful for me to hear your view re: repacking, and perhaps I will just make things easier for myself by buying a liferaft. At least then I will know exactly what I am getting.
