Mangalia
Port of entry.
Working channel vhf 67 but they often do not reply.
the inner basin to the north east is now a marina, 3 pontoons with finger berths. Water and electricity to all berths. If no one around just take a free looking berth. Friendly and helpful. No showers or laundry. Security gates but no locks on them. approx 60Lei for 11m.
Quiet in spite of the town being a major tourist resort.
Very good shopping with daily market.
Easy to sort out 3G sim cards for phone and iPad. (vodaphone, Orange)
Little english spoken in town, look for a teenager , they learn english in school.
No fuel dock, cans only. ATM nearby.

Port Tomis, Constanta
Port of entry.
This is the small vessel port for Constanta just to the north of the commercial harbour. We entered in a F5 with a moderate swell and it was uncomfortable. I think entry might be dangerous with a big sea running and strong NE wind. The harbour is quite large and in northerly winds a chop develops.
2 pontoons with tailed moorings or alongside the outer harbour wall, rough concrete. Try to get on A pontoon, B is too light with its moorings or stay on the wall. The office is open Mon to Fri 830 to 5pm. 90 Euros for a week including water and electricity (11m).
Gates on pontoons with locks, security guard on outer wall.
Showers but no laundry.
fuel by tanker on wall.
No wifi. Excellent restaurants around the very pleasant harbour but not noisy at night.
Excellent shopping with Carrefour a 15 mins , 10Lei taxi ride.
Interesting old city but they are relaying the roads so it is chaos.
Good place to leave a boat. Car hire available, trains and buses. The Danube Delta trip is very worthwhile.

Sulina

18) Recommendations or Warnings A good place to enter/exit from Danube delta, an excellent cruising area, particularly for the wildlife. Sulina is very decrepid, a dying town. Quite large freighters use this channel. Officials do not control yachts – you are free to wander and anchor. Away from buoyed channel be careful of both shallows and overhead cables. 19) Other Information – please include here general impressions, opinions, comments or any other matter which might be of use to those visiting.
