Ashkelon marina – 31°41.00'N, 34°33.00'E
Ashkelon marina, ISRAEL Oct/Nov 1995.
Ashkelon marina in southern Israel has recently opened with full service for its 600 berths, and is now designated as a port of entry. The new marina can accommodate boats up to 50m in length and has a minimum depth of 4m throughout. Its 100 ton travel lift is the only travel hoist currently working in Israel and makes Ashkelon an attractive option for boats wintering in the eastern Mediterranean.
There is good shopping nearby and an excellent bus service from the town to both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, each only an hour away. In addition to having plenty of room for long-term stays, berthing rates are currently very competitive at about 20 pence/metre/day, including water and electricity. Haul out (in and out) on the travel hoist costs approximately œ 6.50/square metre. Rates on the hard are the same as in the water.
For more information contact Armen Portugally, the amiable English speaking marina manager, on tel: 972-2-733780; fax: 972-2-733823; or PO Box 5335, Ashkelon, Israel.
