Recently came across outernet and wondering if any one can share their experiences using it

Looks interesting and the hardware is affordable. Also, it would be easy for a friend to send you (and everyone else!) a file up to 10K.

My concern is... who pays for the bandwidth? Satellites are expensive stuff, even if this uses some sort of marginal band. If no-one pays sufficiently to maintain the network, the broadcasts will stop and one would be stuck with a $160 paperweight.
