This information has been provided by Guy Chester, Roving Rear Commodore of the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) on the 19th May 2020

Frustratingly there is little good news, but efforts continue and we remain hopeful. The OCC has continued to liaise with various governments, diplomats, marine trade associations, rally organisers and OCC port officers in the hope of facilitating at a minimum transit under quarantine and/or ports of refuge for the forthcoming South Pacific cyclone season. We have approximately 150 yachts on our “list”, but are aware there are many more in limbo in anchorages throughout the Pacific Ocean during these tumultuous times.

Please see a detailed update below as a pdf download.

Sailing to Australia? If you are one of the many vessels currently displaced in the SW Pacific awaiting the opportunity to voyage west to Australia we suggest you submit an obligation free expression of interest in joining the 2020 Go West Rally. By doing so you will receive accurate and up to date information by email from the Down Under Rally as the situation regarding border closures evolves.

You may also join our OCC Pacific Crossing Group on Facebook which has been opened to all, nonmembers included. There, cruisers can obtain verified accurate information, ask questions and share concerns.
