We are planning to cross the Atlantic next year - will be cruising around the Azores and then thinking of heading to Galway for the beginning of September and spending a little over a month heading south towards Cork before crossing to Southampton to lay up for the winter...

Does 6 weeks (September to mid October) give us sufficient time to reasonably explore the west coast of Ireland?

Is crossing to the UK reasonable in mid October - or is that too late? (would we be better off laying up in Cork for the winter anyway?)

When do most folk finish their sailing season in England/Ireland?
