Planning a route with an objective of spending time on the coast of British Columbia - Big Bear Rainforest. Planning on Departing San Francisco mid - end of May 2025 actual Start date will be dependent upon weather patterns but the goal is to depart before Memorial Day. If you’re ready to dive into a real sailing life, pitch in with a hardworking crew, and grow your skills while exploring some stunning waters, this might be your next adventure.
This isn’t a luxury cruise, but about building memories and learning from each other. It is not necessary to be in the SF Bay Area , but be prepared to come about a week early.

SV Francesca is a capable Beneatue Oceanis 461. I have spent the last two years outfitting her for just such a passage. Solar Power, Lithium battery upgrade, new plumbing, refrigeration.  Ideally I would like to find 3 - 4 capable crew.

Leg 1: San Francisco to Kauai Hawaii - spend a week to 10 days on the Island

Leg 2: Hawaii to Sitka Alaska.

Leg 3; Sail the Inland Passage from Sitka AK/ Prince Rupert - Vancouver.
This leg we will be the Great Bear Rainforest and the inland waterways heading down British Colombia. We will be exploring abandon towns, soaking in hot springs and experience the natural beauty of the coast of British Colombia.

Leg 4: Vancouver to San Francisco
Departure will be weather dependent as the Northwest coast of the US can be a challenging sail. The goal is to return to Alameda by September 14th. We will be stopping in along the way in available ports.

Larry,

This sounds like a great adventure. If you would consider taking a younger person (18-24 yrs) sponsored by the OCC it would be worth contacting the scheme organiser Richard Kingsnorth (or the Commodore on commodore@oceancruisingclub.org) whose job it is to match a young person with skipper.
