Aleria 's repair work is complete but she is still in Kilrush on the Shannon. We plan to bring her up to Clew Bay in April and sail the coast of Ireland and possibly Scotland this summer. We will be joining the Mayo Sailing Club cruises and plan to be in Galway for the VOR finale in July. Please let us know if you are planning to come out our way.

Edain visiting Ireland rafted up together with Aleria on our mooring in Clew Bay. It was such a joy to welcome an OCC member to our special part of the world.

Back in Galway for the winter again. We had two boats visit us this year in Clew Bay. What a treat!

Aleria has been hauled by Astilleros Lagos boatyard in Bouzas, Spain near Vigo. They use a rail system with specially built cradles to lift boats out. She will be managed by the Lagos brothers, Alberto and Alfredo Lagos over the winter of 2018-19. They did a great job managing her in the water last year in Punta Lagoa.

Hi Daria and all,
For anyone who gets within striking distance of the Lagos boatyard: Alfredo Lagos was the leader of many excursions around the Rias for the OCC. His rallies were among the most enthusiastically received rallies I have ever heard about. A visit to the boatyard is not only a visit to a present-day working yard, but also a visit to a working museum. For example: on the upstairs office wall are numerous wooden propeller blades: beautiful in their own right. When you realize that each blade was hand carved to be the template for the metal blade to be cast from, I expect most will be as gobsmacked as I was.
It is just a very special place.
My best, Dick Stevenson, s/v Alchemy

Hi Dick,
We first visited Astilleros Lagos two years ago and yes we were amazed. We have become good friends with several family members and were invited to visit the family home in Bayona. There we toured Honorary Member Alfredo Senior's office. That's another very special place. You might have seen my article in the OCC Newsletter about it. We've actually talked with Alfredo Jr. and Alberto about turning their assets into a museum of boat building. You never know.

As to the rallies, Alfredo's son Alberto met his wife Jenny on one of those! Yes, they are legendary.

And they are taking exceptionally good care of Aleria for us.
